an ionian knitting odyssey in greece
I have traveled twice with Rowan Tree Travels and each time was a wonderfully curated experience with local experiences and cultural anchors. Rowan Tree provides care, consideration, and respect to the people and places we visit and to the travel participants. I treasure my trips!

fabulous fiber & foliage in new hampshire
RTT is an excellent tour company which offers a unique experience - travel both domestic and international through the knitter's eyes. You'll meet people who shear, raise sheep and other fiber animals, process and spin the wool, dye the wool, and knit. You will have opportunities to ask questions, touch, and interact with the sheep, dogs, owners, and other knitters. You will walk through the fields, barns, yarn shops and stands, and around towns not usually on traditional tours. Every skein I bought and brought home has a story (either about the farm, the owner, the breed, or the specific animal). Being around other fiber enthusiasts also has an energy of it's own. RTT is the way to travel.

wool & wonders of iceland
The trip was fantastic every day, every activity and everyone on board!!!!! We were all so happy with Suzie leading us, and especially grateful for Anna travelling with us (and the amazing weather). It was impossible to stump or annoy Anna with any topic or questions! She is so articulate, knowledgeable, fun, and endearing. Hold onto her! The only things I would have added, are: Another day to ferry from the north coast to Grimsey island, for a day tour. Then we could have crossed the Arctic Circle, gotten a glimpse of life on that remote island, possibly seen whales, and lots of birds. I would have liked another two days to see more of the Southwest, and gone birding or looking for wildlife... maybe a puffin sighting for Suzie - lol! I'd be happy to pay for adding those 3 days... I don't think there was anything we did, anywhere we visited, nor any meal we feasted on that I would leave out! I felt so fortunate to have a workshop with the talented (and patient) Auour Bjort Skuladottir! That said, the group would have been more successful if we have been given directions beforehand on how to knit the body up to where we join the sleeves, so we could work the yoke during class, which is the essential design element of the sweater. In addition, if we'd been given specifics on methods for knitting tiny sleeves, and options for techniques and the needles we needed, ie: whether we wanted to work/learn magic loop, 2 long circs, or double points, and to bring those already knitted in the correct size. We spent too much time focusing on that because it was confusing and above the level of many of the knitters. It was great to get Auour's book, Lopi yarn, and learn about her journey in knitting Lopapeysas that lead her to a MA! Another top notch tour with Rowan Tree! I am hoping for trip #3 to Ireland! With gratitude

wool & whisky with piece of ewe
Had a fabulous time! Loved going off the beaten path to see the richness of the people and the countryside of Scotland! And of course, no trip would be complete without the yarn and this trip did not disappoint! So amazing to hear the designer's/dyer's stories and see their yarn and samples up close. And if you go on this trip, do not miss out on the sticky toffee pudding or the coffee walnut cake!

christmas markets of switzerland, the black forest & alsace
This tour met my hopes for it - a chance to visit lots of Christmas markets with like minded people, meeting fellow knitters, a congenial group, a chance to see and learn about a part of the world new to me -
