contrails & clear skies

ABOUT THE PATTERN

There is something so exhilarating about travel - be it the excitement of exploration, the adventure of heading off into the as-yet-unknown, or thrill of meeting fellow makers and new friends. This luxurious, intermediate level shawl is knit with alternating garter ridge stripes representing our contrails in the sky as we wing our way around the globe in search of fiber adventures. These add interest and texture to the garment as well, encouraging your eye to linger on the stripes to decipher the pattern. The lace border is picked up and knit along the cast off eyelet edge. The length and drape of the shawl make it easy to wrap around your shoulders and stay in place while maintaining a light and airy feel through the lace border.

about the yarn

3 Skeins of Tre Liz Yarn (85% Superwash Merino / 15% Nylon, 400m 100gr)

Lise Condis is a mix of Greek, French and Syrian heritage. Born in Switzerland and raised in Greece, she was, from an early age, influenced by different cultures, ideas and mentalities. Growing up, Lise would battle between Science and Arts. Destiny made her an Optometrist when she decided not to pursue an artistic career after passing the entry examinations of the Beaux Arts. When she learned how to knit and crochet she discovered a new, fibery world, and learned that she could dye and spin her own yarn. It was an epiphany, Science and Color made peace in her mind and Tre Liz was born. Lise is interested in creating unique colorways, in a limited quantity and specializes in eco-friendly, luxurious hand-dyed yarns and fibers.

about the designer

Claudia Donnelly lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico with her family, and oh-so-spoiled cat Miss Audrey Grace. Her growing stash of yarns is soon to need its own zip code! She has been knitting and designing since moving to New Mexico in 2008. Claudia especially loves crescent-shaped shawls for their ease in wearing, as well as all forms of lace.
